Situationsfornærmelse + Death To Seattle

This weekend I photographed my first concert of the… Year? Season? Whichever works. I guess both are fine. Situationsfornærmelse and Death To Seattle performed two really good concerts at my local venue where I volunteer as a photographer; Radar. It was a sold out evening filled with a mix of hardcore and punk, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

On a more technical side, it was my first time using my new Fujifilm X-T5 + 16-55/2.8 at a concert as well. I never expected it to live up to the full frame performance of Sony cameras, but it held up surprisingly well! I love the files it delivers, and after some trial and error I am quite pleased with the result of the evening! Please let me know what you think?

2024 is starting off strong with a new catalogue at Nordahl Andersen for Heide Heinzendorff, a photoshoot we had at Grim Studio back in October. I have been waiting to show these photos, as I am very pleased with how most of these turned out! Both Emily and Valentina are such good people to work with, and we had a great time making this.

As usual I did both the photography and retouch on these photos.

Introduction - Aleksander Espelid

Hello all! Welcome to my little side of the internet, and thank you for being here.

Since this is somewhat of a re-launch of my website, I would think an introduction is in order? Hopefully there are a lot of new faces checking in.

My name is Aleksander, a 33 year old photographer from Oslo, Norway.

Hello all! Welcome to my little side of the internet, and thank you for being here.

Since this is somewhat of a re-launch of my website, I would think an introduction is in order? Hopefully there are a lot of new faces checking in.

My name is Aleksander, a 33 year old photographer from Oslo, Norway. 2,5 years ago I had a slight pitstop in Lisbon, Portugal, which I sadly had to abandon due to covid and all the restrictions that came with it. I spent 1,5 years living in a city I never got to explore as much as I wish I did, and I dream of going back to experience more some day. Even though I did not want to leave Portugal, it sent me to Aarhus, Denmark where I have been living for the last 2,5 years.

Most of you will primarily know me for my portrait photography. Maybe even for my concert photography. But most of you did probably not know that I have been working as a product photographer for the last year and a half. More specifically I have been working for a jewellery company, shooting almost all of the content for their social channels. Sadly that specific chapter is now coming to and end, but I will continue working with product photography going forwards as well. Of course, next to continuing with portraits and concerts that is.

I did however not start out working as a photographer, neither in Lisbon or Aarhus. I began my journey both places in customer service, respectively for Wish and Skatepro. Lucky for me, my time with Skatepro here in Aarhus made me many close friends which has done wonders for me both personally and professionally. They truly are a wonderful group of people, and of course I have to single out Giulia Franck and Michelle Svenstrup. Two incredibly talented women who I am honored to call friends, and who I feel lucky to get to photograph. Giulia, a truly talented artist, has even marked my body with two amazing tattoos. Michelle has with time become my muse, and the one person I most enjoy photographing.

Among many great experiences I have had since leaving Oslo, I have to mention finishing the Berlin Inline Marathon twice, and the second time even breaking the two hour limit and finishing at 1h 47min! Honestly that was something I never thought I could do. I signed up on a whim, and had no expectations. If you told me four years ago that I would finish a marathon of any kind, when I could barely run 2km, I would have laughed in your face. Funny how time can change everything.

I would also be a fool if I not singled out my biggest supporter, my closest friend and wonderful partner, Anne. We met in September 2022, and have been dating ever since. We just celebrated our first Christmas together, and will go for new years eve as well. She has been my rock, and been what got me through some difficult times. I am not sure where I would be without her right now, but I can say for sure it would not be in a good of a place as this. I love you, Anne!

I guess that’s it for now? If you were to have any questions, feel free to ask! I would love to answer.
If you have an inquiry about work, please hit the contact button up top!

Until next time, have a good one!
- Aleksander
